Q19.01 - LNWR Locomotive Allocations

Q19.01 - LNWR Locomotive Allocations

A member is trying to access the Pre-grouping allocations of individual LNWR locomotives. Is there any known source of such information? (Derek Buckles: 23776)

I might be able to help answering the query by Derek Buckles 23776,

regarding allocations of LNWR locos.

I suggest he looks at the document in the Library at Leatherhead, a

works list of Crewe Works 1845-1922,

this gives listing of each loco built up to the amalgamation of 1923, in

to the LMSR and the shed allocation.

I cannot be sure about locos built outside Crewe for the LNWR, certainly

the batches of Prince of Wales locos

built by NBL are covered and the batch built by Beardmore's are also

covered. I am not sure about the rest.

I have been looking at these documents my self, for my own purposes.

An email to the Librarian Peter King would probably be the best start,

as he would be able to search the available documents and books the

Library has and give a more authoritative reply.

I suggest Derek finds the time to visit the Society Library too.
